FERNHILL FISHING
ABOUT THE LAKES
Fernhill fishery is situated in the quiet village of Milcombe just south of Banbury off the A361 towards Chipping Norton. The fishery is 12 acres of water protected by vermin proofed fencing, set in the idyllic Oxfordshire countryside. The fishery has a number of facilities including toilet and tea hut. It comprises of three mature and well-maintained lakes, the ‘Pleasure’ lake, the ‘Beast’ and the ‘Match’ lake.
The 'Pleasure' lake is adjacent to the car park and is the smallest and most popular of the three lakes. Packed with many fish including Carp, Bream, Perch and Roach.
The main fishing lake is known as the 'Beast', a harder water to fish, here the serious angler has the chance to catch Carp into double figures, some of which have grown to over 30Ib. The Beast also contains Bream, Tench and some monster Perch.
The ‘Match’ lake as it suggests is where many local clubs and match groups hold some of their competitions. The whole lake is available for hire as well and any number of pegs. It is also available to the pleasure angler if not already booked, and again can provide some non-stop action, particularly in the warmer months.
You wont be disappointed with fishing at Fernhill, most baits and methods will produce fish, including maggots worms, sweetcorn, meat, pellet and boilies. Keepnets may be used if clean, for smaller fish i.e. silvers, but not for Carp.
